Quiet Silence

Had some free time on and off lately...

The Semper Augustus Tulip, a flower celebrated for its beauty and rarity. After watching a very well done documentary "The Botany of Desire", and was introduced to one of the most successful plants, the tulips. I decided to paint one.

The Scientific Method

This was what I've been working on lately, I did these cover for a company in Korea.

Then they said they wanted softer lines and to make it more "contemporary". As a result:

It didn't work out at the end, but thats okay, thats freelance for ya. Now i'm waiting to hear back from another potential project! fingers crossed*

The Adventures of Isabella and Mirabella

This is a freelance gig I did way back. Unfortunately it didn't get published, but fortunately the NDA contract expired and now I can show you all what I did for the book! It is a book about 2 girls from different parts of the world 1st meet and become friends/sisters, and how they found more in common with each other, despite their differences.

Happily Ever After

Here is my version of what the happily ever after looks like for the Puss in Boots, I would trade lives with him anytime

I had a great deal of fun painting this piece! And it took a lot less time using this new method than the traditional way. Don't you just want to give him a hug?

Sneaky Santa

I did this piece as a Christmas Promo. The theme is "Holiday Lights". I didn't want to paint children caroling, nor did I want to paint the typical scene of a family/children in front of a light up Christmas tree or fireplace with dangling stockings. I was hesitant on most ideas until a friend (Thanks George) suggested a child turning on the lights on a Sneaky Santa! That idea immediately made me smile and feeling excited for the project. How can you not be smiling when painting the jolly fat Santa?

TROLLS!!

I can't tell you how much fun I had painting those 2! I don't think I have ever painted something so ugly and gross before, though surprising to say they are some of the funniest characters to paint! I think maybe it is because I'm not so afraid to mess up and let loose to just enjoy the process of painting. Might do more gross things soon. ;)

Abe Spiegel, our client and producer of the documentary is absolutely thrilled with our work. It makes me really happy when I see my client so excited.

Mother's Day Feast

Here's a piece I've created from the quote: "They prepared a Mother's Day Feast for Mom." But instead of a real Feast, I've created an disaster. And yes! finally some Asians! Though this family must be quite westernized, as we don't really eat pancakes for breakfast.

Sadly to say...I would not be as kind as this mother........

Chromagination!

My friends and I, total of 14 artist, put together a portfolio style artbook that is filled with 128 pages of (as quoted from Angeline) "awesomeness". I am extremely proud of my team members and all of our effort and time we put into this project, the results truly show our hard work, and hopefully to all of you, our talents as well. anyways......

..so I have decided to send "business" and personal Christmas cards this year!! I'm pretty happy with this piece.The characters are the same 2 girls as the on

e with them staring at TV, playing dress up and pretending to be Indians and Cowgirls. Don't we all miss Christmas when its summer?

These next two pieces are a continuum of the "Tu-tu" piece I've created previously, I think they pretty much speak for themselves.

The hardest part when creating these two pieces was the part where I had to find the perfect references for both baby and dog, so that they will look consistent with the characters in "Tu-tu". And let me tell you, there are so many many different

looking English Bulldogs out there.

my little work station

Since a got a bit of time on my hands, I'm going to let you guys see what a perfect little work station I have! (minis the distracting tv that todd is watching on the other side of the room and two adorable cats on the other end of my white table).

I work primarily in watercolor, there on the brown wooden table you see all of my watercolor brushes and supplies (now it is also cover with used cups and snacks).

On my mac, I usually lay out across the screen my color rough and all necessary reference.

so when you're ever wondering where I am, most 70% of the time I'm there.
